BELL COUNTY, Ky. (WRIL)-- The Bell County Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire on Highway 66 tuesday morning.

It happened around 1:53 a.m. on Arjay Hill.

Once on scene the fire had spread from the chimney throughout the attic.

Fire crews told WRIL that due to extreme weather conditions they had difficulty operating their equipment due to frozen trucks and hydrants. And, due to spraying water, everything turned to ice only adding to the problem. The road and work area around the blaze was also ice making it extremely difficult to do control the scene.

Two people were at the home at the time of the fire, but no injuries are reported. The home was a total loss. Kentucky Utilities was also on scene.

The fire department cleared the scene at 6:30am.
