LEXINGTON, Ky (LEX 18) Lexington Emergency Management announced that it will test its network of outdoor warning sirens Wednesday, January 3, 2017, at 10 a.m.

If you live near a park or golf course, expect to hear the outdoor siren sound a series of chimes followed by a voice announcement “This is a test”. The warning siren located in downtown Lexington is inactive due to maintenance issues, so there will be no test of the downtown emergency warning siren. The recently installed sirens at Hisle Park on Briar Hill Road and at the Raven Run Nature Sanctuary will be included in the test.

This is a regularly scheduled test which occurs on the first Wednesday of each month when severe weather is not expected. There is no emergency and this is for testing purposes only, please do not call 9-1-1 for information about the siren test.

More information about the Lexington Warning Siren System is available at:  http://bereadylexington.com/siren-faq/
