Several Rally Against Underfunding Of Pensions

Posted: Updated:

FRANKFORT, Ky (LEX 18) One of the biggest issues lawmakers will likely address during this year's legislative session is the pension system. On Tuesday, several state workers and retirees made sure their voices were heard.

Despite the freezing temperatures, they rallied in front of the capitol because they wanted to show the governor and lawmakers that they are angry and have had enough of underfunding of their pensions.

LEX 18 reached out to Governor Bevin's office for comment and they referred our reporter to an interview the governor did with a radio host in Louisville. In the WHAS radio interview, Bevin told Leland Conway that Kentucky has the worst-funded pension system in the country and that it is failing. He also said that the situation has to be addressed soon.
