Heavy Coats and Winter Accessories for a Few More Days

Posted: Updated:

The bitter cold is back for a few more days. We are tracking more frigid temperatures and dangerous wind chills. After a high of 21° Thursday, we have extended our sub-freezing stretch to 10 days. Temperatures will remain below freezing through Saturday, which would tie us for 7th place on the list for most consecutive days below freezing.

A Wind Chill Advisory kicks in tonight and will run through late Friday morning. This advisory is not for everyone. It includes primarily northern Kentucky, but also includes parts of the Bluegrass.

Wind Chill Advisories are issued for feels-like temperatures between -10° and -24°. Wind chills Friday morning will be more on the -10° end of that range. We are tracking sub-zero wind chills for most around central and eastern Kentucky Friday morning. Feels-like temperatures will remain near 0° throughout the day.

Low temperatures will split 0 over the next two nights. Temperatures start to thaw over the weekend. Lows will even approach freezing by Monday morning. The January thaw will continue through the remainder of next week.
