Catholic Action Center Prepping For Weekend Weather

Posted: Updated:

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)-- With this next big winter hit headed our way, much of the area is bracing once again for brutally cold temperatures; and that includes those who help protect Lexington's most vulnerable citizens.

The work at the Catholic Action Center never stops. After a brief taste of spring, the Compassionate Caravan is getting ready to hit the streets to make sure everyone has a safe place to be once the storm hits.

Ginny Ramsey, the director of the center, says they've spent the past couple days cleaning, sorting and prepping for what is yet to come.

With the added threats of snow and ice this next storm may be more challenging than the brutally cold that filled their shelter already earlier this year.

Ramsey urges people who need a place to stay to get to shelters early, before the ice comes.

"The caravan will go out early to try to pick up people, and then hopefully we're going to have a church that will take our overflow, so that we can all as a community get through this next hit of winter," Ramsey said.
