LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) - Hope you enjoyed the balmy , and at times, beautiful weather of the last couple of days. Because beginning on Friday, a mix of rain, sleet, snow and ice could fall in many parts of Kentucky.
That will bring the potential of chaos on the roads here in the Bluegrass.
"South Carolina has the same saying: if you don't like the weather, wait about 5 or 10 minutes. It'll change," said Joe McGee, a truck driver.
That's the change expected within the next 24 hours.
"I'm used to it, I've been doing it almost 30 years," said McGee.
McGee watches the news every night before he hits the road for a round trip to Nashville in his 18-wheeler.
"Hopefully it's not going to be as bad as it will tomorrow (Friday)," said McGee.
That quick change is why Walter Gary Andrews made the drive to Lexington from western Kentucky on Thursday to pick up farming equipment.
"The weather they said our way was going to be three to five inches, so maybe half inch to an inch of ice. So we decided to change the plans," said Andrews.
Once he gets home, he's keeping his truck in the garage.
"Might be out playing in the snow at this point, so I don't know. Won't be doing much work tomorrow," said Andrews.
McGee says if there's ice on the road, he's not making the drive south for work. He's staying home.
"If you have to get to work, then you still gotta take your time. Slow is the best way to go, and not only that, but look out for your fellow drivers," said McGee. "If you get in and don't feel comfortable, don't go."
