PERRY COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)-- Officials are searching for a man they say is facing numerous animal cruelty charges.

On Tuesday, the sheriff's department received a call concerning some dogs left at a abandoned mobile home and house on Lewis Hollow Road in Viper.

They responded to the scene and found one dog running around outside of the abandoned mobile home and two dogs inside the mobile home. There was no food or water for the dogs. Another dog was found deceased in front of the abandoned house in an old dog house chained to a tree with no food.

An official with the animal shelter  took the three dogs that were alive to the Kentucky River Regional Animal Shelter in Hazard.

An arrest warrant was issued on the owner of the dogs, Michael Lewis, for four counts of second-degree cruelty to animals.
