State Forces Ready For Inclement Weather

Posted: Updated:

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – KYTC District 7 is ready for adverse weather conditions.  The D7 office continues to monitor the forecasts.  Personnel are currently on standby and patrolling when deemed necessary.

All equipment and trucks are ready.  The addition of chains to snow and ice truck tires will provide additional traction.  Contractors reported to facilities earlier today to supplement state crews.  Calcium chloride with salt will be utilized for treating roadways.

Every winter event is individual and presents varied challenges.  Variables include air and pavement temperature and the timing of snowfall and ice.  Motorists should remember that during precipitation, falling temperatures can create black ice on wet pavement.  The black ice can form even on previously treated roadways.

The forecast for today and through the weekend:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fPlnW6YWdE&feature=youtu.be
