Contractor Rescued After Pole Snap

Posted: Updated:

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) - Firefighters and EMS responded to Old Richmond Road where a utility worker was rescued after being stuck almost 20-feet in the air.

Lexington firefighters say a contractor was stretching lines across poles when the pole broke with his weight. The man was stuck in the air for nearly an hour. Meanwhile, the wires caught the grass on fire below him.

Crews managed to quickly put out the fire. Kentucky Utilities shut off the power to the affected area.
