Search Underway For Men Using Counterfeit Bills

Posted: Updated:

FLORENCE, Ky. (WLWT)-- Several police agencies are working together to nab at least three men they say are running a well-orchestrated counterfeit cash scheme.

Investigators say the men passed bad cash in Louisville, drove up to Northern Kentucky, did it again and tried a third time in Cincinnati.

"They just keep going from store to store, using the counterfeit bills, returning the items and getting cash," said Florence Police Detective Michael Dickhaus.

Police say in the last week, the men have been flawlessly passing bad $100 bills at Walmart stores. They got $1,000 worth of merchandise from the store in Florence using the counterfeit money. Then the men took what they purchased in Florence to the Walmart in Fairfax to return it; in exchange, they got real cash.

Police are working to identify the men and are trying to get a better look at the plate on the truck involved. Officials say they've been making their way around in a blue pickup.

If you recognize the men, call Florence police at 859-647-5420.
