Fundraiser To Build Home For Girl Paralyzed In Shooting

Posted: Updated:

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)-- A fundraiser was held Friday morning to generate money to help build a home for Amaya Catching.

Catching was 11 years old when she was accidentally shot and paralyzed by a stray bullet.

The Central Kentucky Building Institute organized a pancake breakfast at Ferguson Bath Kitchen and Lighting, to begin the process of raising $70,000 towards construction costs of a customized home for Catching.

2x4 studs were sold for $10 each, and autograph by anyone who made a donation to this cause.

Catching was paralyzed from the chest down last summer, when a bullet was fired into a house she was visiting.

"in my bathroom there's a roll-in shower and there's a sink that's, not on the floor so i can roll under there," Catching said. "In my bedroom there's a desk I can roll under. It's just really nice!"

An incredibly nice gesture from all those vounteering their time and money.
