Estill County Cancels Classes Due To Illness

Posted: Updated:

ESTILL COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) - Estill County Schools will be shutting down school for the rest of the week due to illness. The schools have already missed several days due to weather, but the superintendent tells LEX 18 that they have plans to make up the days.

So far, Estill County has been out 15 days so far this school year, including the days added for the rest of the week. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will be the first days the schools have had to cancel for illness.

Jeff Saylor told LEX 18's Conor McCue that he has a plan for making up some of the school days. Four of the days will be staff work days, which are not required to be made up.

Spring break will be shortened to two days.

Estill County does not participate in NTI Days or alternative instructional days that would take place of cancellations.
