LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — One person is dead and a Lexington man is in custody facing murder, rape and kidnapping charges after an incident that began Tuesday evening near Squires Woods Way.
According to a police report, Morgan Taylor Johnson, 21, is charged with kidnapping, first-degree rape, murder and first-degree burglary.
Police were called out Tuesday evening in the 3500 block of Squires Woods Way.
According to the report, Johnson "unlawfully restrained the victim from a known location and transported the victim to her residence." The report says Johnson sexually assaulted the victim. Afterward, the report states that Johnson shot and killed Christopher Spencer, 19. Spencer was a friend of the female.
Police said upon arriving at the scene officers found the male victim lying on the porch. Fire Department crews on the scene determined he was dead.
Police dispatched its Emergency Response and Crisis Negotiation units. After more than an hour of negotiations, Johnson and female exited the building. Police say Johnson was taken into custody at 12:45 a.m.
Johnson is being held in Fayette County Detention Center. In court Wednesday, his bond was set at $250,000 full cash. His next court appearance is scheduled for February 12. He was appointed a public defender.
