Robert “Happy” Osborne, Jr. is returning to Georgetown College. Not as a basketball coach, however, but as a development officer in the Office of Institutional Advancement.
“I am excited that Happy Osborne will join the Advancement team at Georgetown College,” commented Todd Rasberry, Ph.D., Vice President, in announcing the newest addition to the staff. “Building on his 31 years as a coach at Georgetown, he brings to his new fundraising role existing relationships with many alumni and friends of the College.”
Osborne, a native of Lynch, is no stranger to fundraising, of course. As a coach, he had responsibility for outreach to various constituents in order to secure funds in support of his program.
“Obviously, it’s a dream come true to come home,” expressed Osborne. “I am so impressed by all that has been accomplished since Dr. Greene arrived. I am excited and look forward to learning from Dr. Rasberry and to being a part of the Georgetown team. To be honest, the chance to serve the school I love and return to the community where our family has so many great memories is more than humbling.”
Both Bobbi Ann, Osborne’s wife, and their daughter, Madison, are Georgetown College graduates. Added an enthused Osborne, “I look forward to renewing all the friendships at Georgetown and in Scott County that we have enjoyed through the years.”
