Montpelier High School in Vermont just became the first high school in the country to raise the 'black lives matter' flag. Students at Montpelier raised the flag Thursday morning to mark the beginning of black history month. It will fly the entire month of February. The school board unanimously voted to approve the raising of the flag...after the student group 'racial justice alliance' worked for more than a year to make the event happen. The group's founder said at its core...the flag shows a step toward equality in education...something she and a lot of other students of color say they have not received at a school...Montpelier's student body is less than five percent black. Raising the flag has sparked some backlash, but school officials said they've received overwhelming support from the community.
