Vintage Bourbon Store Set To Open Saturday

Posted: Updated:

LEXINGTON, Ky (LEX 18) Central Kentucky's latest bourbon attraction is already sparking interest from across the country. LEX 18's Alexa Helwig stopped by Justins' House of Bourbon before the grand opening.

"We believe we have a lot of bottles that folks have actually never seen," said co-owner Justin Thompson.

After a law went into effect at the beginning of this year, Kentucky liquor stores can now buy and sell what is deemed to be vintage spirits. That's when the idea for Justins' House of Bourbon on West Main Street came into play.

“We have a great representation from the early 1900's all the way to the mid-2000's in our vintage collection,” he said.

Co-owners Justin Thompson and Justin Sloan are excited to show off their collection of bourbons bottled today, but also to sell what is believed to be the world's largest collection of vintage bourbon. They hope that customers will bring in their own bottles too.

"We are also looking forward to folks bringing us some special bottles that they have. We'd love to tell them about it and possibly buy it from them as well," said Thompson.

They say that anyone who attends the grand opening Saturday will have the opportunity to buy a limited and special bottle of Wathen's Barrel Proof Bourbon.

"It's one of only 25 barrels in the country that was released," he said.

The store is located at 601 West Main Street and the grand opening will be from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.
