Kentucky at No. 2 Mississippi State

Team Records and Series Notes

-          Kentucky moves to 12-14 overall, 4-8 in Southeastern Conference play this season, while Mississippi State is undefeated at 26-0, 12-0 SEC.

-          Matthew Mitchell is in his 11th season as head coach at Kentucky. He is the winningest head coach in program history at 253-114.

-          Kentucky leads the all-time series in games played against Mississippi State, 27-18, including a 10-9 record in games played in Starkville.

o   The loss snapped UK’s 11-game win streak in the series.

-          Kentucky will return home to Memorial Coliseum this Thursday, Feb. 15, to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks at 7 p.m. ET. The game will be streamed live on SEC Network+, while fans in Lexington can hear Darren Headrick’s radio call on the UK Sports Network.

Team Notes

-          Kentucky used the starting combination of senior Alyssa Rice, senior Makenzie Cann, junior Taylor Murray, junior Maci Morris and freshman KeKe McKinney.

o   UK is 5-8 with that starting-five combination.

-          The Wildcats struggled against MSU’s perimeter shooting in the first half, as the Bulldogs made 8-of-17 attempts from long range to lead 40-22 at halftime.

-          Kentucky outscored the Bulldogs 21-16 in the third quarter to cut the deficit, coming as close as nine in the stanza.

o   UK trailed 56-43 at the end of the third quarter.

-          Kentucky’s 55 points were the most scored against Mississippi State in seven games.

-          The Wildcats outrebounded the Bulldogs 39-33 in the contest.

o   It was just the fifth time MSU has been outrebounded in conference play and the seventh time overall this season.

-          UK’s bench outscored Mississippi State’s, 21-1.

Player Notes

-          Maci Morris led the Wildcats with 21 points in the game.

o   Of her 21 points, she scored 17 in the second half.

o   It was the second consecutive game in which she’s scored 20+ points and the seventh time this season.

o   Morris’ 1,074 career points now ranks 27th in Kentucky’s all-time scoring list.

o   She also had four rebounds and two assists today.

-          Dorie Harrison had a near double-double for UK with eight points and nine rebounds.

o   Her seven defensive rebounds matched her career high, set in the season opener vs. Sacramento State on Nov. 10.
