LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — The number of deaths in Lexington related to this season's widespread flu outbreak is now at 12, according to health officials.
Kevin Hall, spokesman for Lexington-Fayette County Health Department, said Tuesday that the department had confirmed its 12th flu-related death.
The flu season isn't expected to end until April.
Officials have logged more than 500 confirmed cases of flu in Lexington, and more than 100 people statewide have died of complications from the virus.
If you're starting to feel fatigued or you develop a high fever, check in with your doctor. It is also recommended that you wash your hands.
The Fayette County Health Department is offering free flu shots Tuesday from 4 to 6:30 p.m. in their public health clinic.
"We aren't turning anyone away," Hall said.
