Wednesday Rain Adds To Flooding Concerns In Knox County

Posted: Updated:

KNOX COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Flooding concerns continued to plague Knox County on Wednesday.

The rescue squad has responded to nearly 25 calls involving flooding and a trapped car. Emergency officials in Barbourville are working to assess the damage.

Crews will be checking into several parts of the county, including Kentucky Highway 11 and a community called Stinking Creek, which saw some of the worst damage from the flooding this week.

The county's Special Operations Response Team has been very busy, working with the EMS, with several water rescues. In fact, four rescues occurred within the last 24 hours.

Some drivers thought they could pass through a flooded Kentucky 11, only to find themselves trapped in feet of water. One woman was take to the hospital with signs of hypothermia after being in this water for several hours.

Water levels have been decreasing after a break from the rain, and LEX 18 will provide updates on emergency efforts.
