Closure Scheduled For Kennedy Mill Bridge

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Department of Highways, announced that a temporary closure is scheduled for the Kennedy Mill Bridge.  The closure is necessary for rehabilitation work to be completed.

A replacement bridge is currently being built adjacent to the existing structure.  The anticipated completion date for the new bridge is November 2019.

Wednesday, February 21 – the bridge will close at 9 a.m.

Wednesday, February 28 – the bridge will reopen at 5 p.m.

Kennedy Mill Bridge 

·         the bridge will be closed at milepoint 18.849 (the Garrard – Mercer County line)

o   the bridge is located on Kennedy Bridge Road/KY 152

Alternate Route:

o   motorists should plan to utilize US 27 and KY 34 to KY 33

All work is subject to change depending on weather, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways.

    CLAY COUNTY, Ky. (Manchester Enterprise) - A Clay County middle school student is reportedly in custody after making threats. The Manchester Enterprise is reporting that the child wrote a post on Facebook threatening violence. They say the threat was acted upon quickly by the school board and law enforcement. The superintendent tells the newspaper that authorities took the student into custody and he's being held in the Breathitt Juvenile Facility.
