CD Central's 'Store Dog' Passes Away After 11 Years Of Greeting Customers

Posted: Updated:

UPDATE: The owner of CD Central contacted LEX 18 Wednesday night with the results of their fundraiser. They had a tremendous response and will be sending Lexington Humane Society a check for $1,157.55.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)-- If you've been to CD Central on South Limestone, you've probably been greeted a time or two by a friendly pup.

Zena, the official "store dog," had greeted customers for 11 years.

Sadly, the store posted to their Facebook page that she passed away over the weekend, saying she went peacefully and painlessly.

They shared some fond memories of the beloved pooch.

"It's fair to say that in that time she made literally thousands of friends. She loved being petted and having her belly rubbed, and we know she touched a lot of hearts."

In Zena's memory, CD Central will be donating all profits from sales Wednesday to the Lexington Humane Society, where she was adopted. If you can't make it to the store on Wednesday, they'd like you to consider dropping a dollar or two in the LHS collection box which is always at the front counter.
