Police Officer Takes The Stand In Whitley Co. Murder Case

Posted: Updated:

WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky (LEX 18) A Corbin Police Officer testified in court Tuesday in the case of a Whitley County man accused in the murders of four people.

Officer Coy Wilson said that officers originally responded to 74-year-old Mary Jackson's home on February 17. There they found Jackson and her granddaughter, 33-year-old Tiffany Myers dead. Family members say that Myers was three-months pregnant when she was killed. Officers found Myer's brother, Justin Collins, at the home. Wilson said that Collins told police while at the station that he was in the bedroom and he heard Myers speaking with someone. He recognized the voice as that of Paul Brock.Wilson said that Collins claimed the conversation between Brock and Myers was about purchasing pills. Wilson said that police imagine Myers and her husband, 45-year-old Aaron Byers, were involved in the situation with pills and that Mary Jackson was not.

Wilson stated in court that Collins heard Myers say "Paul, you shot me." Collins said that there weren't any neighbors home to help him. he recognized the truck at the home. it was a silver Nissan truck. Collins called 911 about 15 minutes after the shooting initially happened. Collins told police on Sunday, February 18, that he was positive it was Paul Brock that was at the home.

Officers searched Paul Brock's house on February 18, according to Wilson. They found a shovel on the side of the road close to where the body of 45-year-old Aaron Byers was found. Wilson said that Brock did tell police he was with Byers on the day of the murders. Police say that in Brock's truck, they found a bullet in the front seat, along with blood splatter.

No weapons have been found, but bullets were recovered.

The defense asked the judge to lower Paul Brock's bond to $25,000, stating he is "low risk". The judge said that the bond would remain the same, at $1 million.
