Sheriff's Office Looking For Suspects In Burglary At Kid's Camp

Posted: Updated:

BOYLE COUNTY, Ky (LEX 18) The Boyle County Sheriff's Office is looking to identify several people caught on a security camera in a recent burglary at Camp Horsin' Around.

Camp Horsin' Around provides camping facilities for children with illnesses, disabilities, and special needs.

The Boyle County Sheriff's Office says the unidentified woman and two men shattered a window to break into a boathouse, stealing a weed eater and two boat motors.

Since September, there's been three different break-ins at Camp Horsin' Around. The camp's Board estimates there's been about $7,000 worth of property stolen, and that thieves have caused another $2,000 worth of property damage.

The administration building, dining hall, and a now-empty equipment shed were broken into this past fall.

The items stolen included archery bows, fishing poles and power tools. One word comes to Chief Deputy Chris Stratton's mind.

"Anger," said Dep. Stratton. "For someone to burglarize it and steal their equipment that they use specifically for the children, that's some low-life people there."

No children were at the camp during the burglaries, and the camp's board has taken steps to increase security.

The Boyle County Sheriff's Office asks that anybody with information on the individuals in the surveillance photos call the Sheriff's Office.

Camp Horsin' Around released a statement:

"Although these are unfortunate circumstances, the community has been incredibly supportive. They're passionate about the camp's mission to help children whose health is compromised, or have special needs. We appreciate the assistance of local authorities and of anyone can help identify those involved. We've taken steps to ensure the camp remains a safe, secure, and fun place for special guests and visitors"
