VERSAILLES, Ky. (LEX 18) — The America First organization will be hosting an event featuring Vice President Mike Pence in Kentucky.
The event is slated for 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 7, at "More Than A Bakery" on Big Sink Road in Versailles.
The topic of conversation will be tax cuts intended to "put America first."
On Tuesday, Lexington police announced a road closure for downtown. Lexington police tell LEX 18 that the closure is for a VIP but could not confirm any further details.
Police said Vine Street between South Broadway and South Mill Street will be closed between midnight and approximately 10 a.m.
West Main Street traffic will be pushed onto South Broadway, and no vehicles will be allowed to turn right onto West Vine Street from South Broadway.
If you are interested in going the event, you can RSVP for tickets here.
The Kentucky Democratic Party's chair released a statement regarding the visit:
“Just like everyone else working there, Pence is trying to get away from the White House while it implodes, “ Chair Ben Self said. “He came a long way to buy a cake for the dumpster fire. If the tax plan was actually helping people, they wouldn’t have to spend so much money on selling it to the American people.”
