Vigil Planned For Missing McCreary County Man

Posted: Updated:

MCCREARY COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) - Two months isn't long enough for a McCreary County family to give up on their missing loved one.

The last time anyone reportedly saw Darren Kidd was on January 4.

"We're not giving up on him. We're still looking, still taking a bunch of phone calls and messages. Still looking for him," said Michelle Kennedy, Kidd's cousin.

Kidd's family last saw him on January 3. Kidd's girlfriend reported him missing the next day when he walked away from a group of friends.

"He wouldn't have just taken off for two months and not told anybody," said Kennedy.

Kennedy says the stories about Kidd's disappearance keep changing, and while she's losing hope he is alive, she just wants him found.

"It would give our family some closure. You know, just not knowing. The unknown. Don't know where he's at, don't know," said Kennedy. "He should be down there by his grandpa, down there where he grew up."

On Friday night, the family will be holding a candlelight vigil in memory of Darren Kidd. It will be held on the lawn of the McCreary County Courthouse starting at 7:30.

The purpose is to pray for his return, and to send a message to the person, or persons, who know where he is.

"I wish they would just come forward. You know. It wouldn't matter how, it wouldn't matter. We'd just like to have him, Darren, back," said Kennedy.
