LEXINGTON, Ky. –The Eastern Kentucky University baseball team will travel up the road to take on fifth ranked University of Kentucky at Cliff Hagen Stadium on Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
The Colonels (5-6, 0-0 OVC) are coming off a three-game sweep of the Coppin State University Eagles. The Wildcats (11-1, 0-0 SEC) are coming off a three-game sweep at the Shriners Hospital for Children College Classic.
EKU’s offense is led by Daniel Harris IV and Ryland Kerr. Harris is batting a team-high .361 with one home run, one triple, and five RBIs. Kerr is hitting at a .357 clip to go along with his team-high four doubles, one triple, and eight RBIs. Kerr is coming off a 10-for-13 weekend against Coppin State.
Kentucky’s offense is led by Luke Heyer and T.J. Collett. Heyer is hitting a team-best .462 with seven home runs, three doubles, and 16 RBIs. Collett has a .396 batting-average, with three doubles, seven home runs, and 22 RBIs.
The Colonels will send junior Logan Teague to the mound. He will be making his second start on the year. Teague is 1-0 on the year with 4.26 earned run average. He has struck out 10 batters over 12 and two-thirds innings pitched.
The Wildcats will be sending either senior Brad Schaenzer or freshman Daniel Harper to the mound. Schaenzer is 0-0 on the year with a 1.93 earned run average while striking eight batters over nine and one-third innings pitched. Harper is 0-0 on the year with 4.00 ERA while striking out 10 batters over nine innings pitched.
EKU has a quick turn around after Tuesday’s game as the Colonels are scheduled to travel to Johnson City, Tennessee to take on East Tennessee State University Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled is for 4 p.m.
