LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) - The principal of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School sent a note home to parents a day after the news broke of an arrest of a student for terroristic threatening.

18-year-old Timothy Felker is charged with second-degree terroristic threatening after a tip was called in to the school's tip line.

A rifle and about 500 rounds of ammunition were removed from Felker's home.

Here is the note that was sent home from the principal to the parents.

We have had a good day today at Dunbar.  Attendance was 93%, which is above normal, and the climate was calm and supportive.

I addressed the students this morning to re-emphasize the importance of using the STOP Tip Line to report any potential threats to our school safety.  I also reminded students of the increased safety measures that we have put in place, including increased police and staff supervision, improved screening of visitors as they enter the building, and the upcoming distribution of student ID badges.

As the administration team and school psychologist visited classrooms throughout the day, teachers and students were working together to process information and to discuss the safety measures in place at PLD to keep our school community safe.  Students and staff alike expressed appreciation for the swift action that was taken by school and district leaders and all law enforcement agencies in this matter.  We were also able to hear suggestions from students about other ways we could improve school safety and climate through these classroom interactions.

Although we have already shared all of the information that we can legally disclose about the ongoing investigation, we know that you may want to come in and talk with us about this incident.  We will be available tonight between 6-7 PM in the PLD library.  We are committed to the safety of the PLD community and to continued collaboration with all of our stakeholders.
