John Calipari is not expecting to play freshman Jarred Vanderbilt during the NCAA Tournament when UK plays in Boise.
Vanderbilt is dealing with a sprained ankle.
"If he's not able to go full bore, I'm not going to play him, for him or us," says Cal Monday morning on the SEC teleconference. "My guess would be hard this weekend. He wants to play, but I don't feel comfortable."
Vanderbilt, who missed the first 17 games with a foot injury, was injured during practice last week and didn't play in the SEC Tournament.
The 6-foot-9 forward is averaging 5.9 points and a team-best 7.9 rebounds this season.
Kentucky, a 5th seed, plays their first game in the NCAA Tournament against 12-seed Davidson.
The game tips at 7:10 PM ET.
