MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Artists on Tuesday were stopping by a Berea art gallery to see if their works were lost or damaged, a day after a fire broke out and destroyed the building's roof.
Emergency crews battled a blaze Monday evening at the gallery on North Broadway.
Smoke could be seen from miles around as firefighters put the fire out. The mayor of Berea tells LEX 18 that Gallery 123 is a place where students and young artists can showcase their work.

Crews carried canvases and other art supplies out of the building once the fire was out.
The building was closed at the time the fire broke out, and no one was inside.
The roof was destroyed in the blaze. Investigators were still trying to determine what caused the fire.
