Protective Order Issued In Case Of SB 151

Posted: Updated:

FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18) - Attorney General Andy Beshear posted an update on the legal action to stop Senate Bill 151.

The court has granted a "protective order" to prevent Governor Bevin's attorneys from deposing members of the AG's office, the Kentucky Education Association and the Kentucky State Lodge Fraternal Order of Police.

Beshear said the plan was to ask questions that were "absolutely unnecessary" to the legal process.

“Today, the court granted a protective order preventing Gov. Bevin from delaying our challenge of the pension bill and subjecting teachers and police officers to depositions under oath. We will continue to fight for the rights of our hardworking public servants, and we hope that Gov. Bevin will stop playing games so we can quickly move toward a full and final ruling," said Beshear.

AG Beshear said the decision was another victory on the path to have the sewage-bill-turned-pension bill declared unconstitutional and called it "another positive ruling."

The Governor's attorneys will be able to respond to the decision on May 23.
