Park Employees Find Visitor After Hours At Ky/Va Park

Posted: Updated:

PIKEVILLE, Ky. (LEX 18) - Staff at the Breaks Interstate Park, on the border of Kentucky and Virginia,  posted a picture of an after-hours visitor slithered up to the visitor center.

A black rat snake had slithered its way around a door handle.

"We had a guest stop by the Visitor Center yesterday. Unfortunately, it had already closed for the evening, but we think he wanted to ask our Naturalist about good areas to find mice in the park," reads a post on the park's Facebook page.

Rat snakes are typically harmless to humans and eat vermin. So despite being slithery and a little scary looking,  they are good to have around.
