LINCOLN COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) - Officials with the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department arrested a man they say went on a high-speed chase with a 1-year-old in the vehicle.

Deputies attempted to stop a vehicle, driven by Dakota Moore, for a traffic violation. After resisting being removed from his vehicle, deputies say Moore sped off.

As he drove down US Highway 127, officials say that Moore nearly struck a child walking alongside the roadway. The chase reached speeds of 70 MPH.

According to a press release, Moore then jumped out of the car and began running through the Arcadia View Subdivision.  Residents were able to apprehend Moore as he was attempting to get into a crawl space at a residence on Douglas Ave.

One neighbor, Laci Grigsby, told LEX 18 that her husband helped catch Moore.

"My husband grabbed the keys and got in the car and took off, just to try to help to see if he could try to find somebody and then, before you know it, there's just police cars coming through left and right," she said.

Moore was taken into custody and lodged in the Lincoln Regional Jail. A 1-year-old child and two adults were in the vehicle at the time. No injuries were reported, The child was checked out by EMS. The two adults in the car were questioned and released.
