Parking For Barbasol Championship

Posted: Updated:

(LEX 18) — The first day of events at the Barbasol Championship is a week from Tuesday. With an event the likes of which Jessamine County has never seen, the two-lane Delaney Ferry road that leads to the golf course will not be enough for the heavy volume of attendees. That is where Keeneland comes in.

"You got 132 golfers, 132 caddies, you've got media, you've got first responders, you've got VIPs and hospitality chalets," said Executive Director Brooks Downing.

With other PGA events, like the one at Valhalla, fans were used to driving right up to the course and parking in a neighborhood.

This will be different.

"We thought it would be very simple. Let's find a close location, destination point — Keeneland — that has plenty of parking, that'll be an easy fun 10-minute shuttle ride over here," said Downing.

Parking is free Tuesday and Wednesday and will be $10 Thursday-Sunday at Keeneland. The free shuttle will drop you on course property and bring you back. If you plan to use Uber, Lyft, or get a taxi to the tournament, there will be drop-off locations near the course.

There will be complimentary parking close by for Lexus drivers.

One and a half miles of Delaney Ferry will be shut down around the course.

"The sheriff's departments are going to be manning both ends of this restricted access, so you won't even be able to drive up to the golf course unless you have a parking pass," said Downing.
