Semi Stuck For 24 Hours On Madison Co. Road

Posted: Updated:

MADISON COUNTY, Ky (LEX 18) A semi hauling a steam engine to Estill County got stuck on a back road in Madison County. It was stuck for over 24 hours.

"I’ve been here since noon yesterday, trying to get out of here. Two wreckers later and I'm finally out," said driver Ted Squier.

Squier tells LEX 18 that he was just simply following the permit the State of Kentucky gave him, which led him to Panola Road in Waco. He was delivering the steam engine to Ravenna.

"If I would have kept going around the curve without the first wrecker, I would have ended up flipping the load," said Squier.

The semi was just stuck in the middle of the road in between two curves, the kind of road that the driver says he should never have been on in the first place.

"I was 118 foot long and 185,000 lbs so I had no business being on this road. I should have been on a four-lane highway," said Squier.

A neighbor who lives near where the semi got stuck said that the driver and several other people were out here all night, putting the rock down to get the semi out of the yard.

"They were out here all night long with bulldozers, the police were out here. They had my entire driveway blocked, wouldn't let me through. I had to take out the ditch line to come through my house," said Chad Isaacs, who lives in the area.

After over 24 hours, the semi was back on its way.
