LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE 3) - An argument between an Uber driver and passenger ended in death.

The driver passed away in the hospital after a fight outside the Courtyard Marriott Louisville East on Blairwood Road.

His fiancé told WAVE 3 News his name was Michael Wallace and he had been driving for Uber for three years. He had three children, the youngest just 10-months-old.

Police were called to the hotel around 6 p.m. Aug. 4 for a report of an unresponsive person down.

When officers arrived, they discovered Wallace and the person who called the Uber had gotten into an argument which led to a physical altercation.

Emergency crews rushed Wallace to Baptist East Hospital. He died a few days later.

Police did not share what the fight was about. However, Wallace's fiancé told WAVE 3 News it was over the price of the ride.

She said he was driving five people and one of them was upset about the price. When he told them to get out if they didn't like the price, she said that's when the argument turned physical.

The hotel doesn't have surveillance video, so police are currently looking for witnesses.

Officials are waiting for Wallace's cause of death before deciding whether or not to press charges.

An autopsy will be performed.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the anonymous police tipline at 502-574-LMPD (5673).
