RIVERSIDE, Calif. (LEX 18) – A Lexington man was arrested in California in connection with what police there are calling a parental abduction.

According to a post by the Riverside Police Department, Antwon French, 34, of Lexington is alleged to have kidnapped his 5-week-old daughter on May 17, 2019, and flee the state in a gray Nissan Altima.

A felony warrant for custodial interference was issued out of Fayette County, Kentucky, but he also had an additional felony warrant out of Georgia for possession of a sawed-off shotgun.

French, who also goes by the name Markell Moore, was found in an apartment in Riverside after a surveillance operation. The infant was found unharmed in a car seat in the rear bedroom closet.

Riverside CPS took possession of the child and French was taken into custody. He will be extradited to Kentucky to face the interference charge.
