LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — As part of The Rebound Kentucky, LEX18 is working to help find ways to cope with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in all aspects of life. For many, the change in routine, gym closures or risk of getting sick has meant exercise and gym workouts have become a thing of the past, and if you're having trouble getting yourself up off the couch, you are not alone.

"I'm one of them, generally speaking, so how can we help them do that," said Paula Anderson, the president and CEO of the YMCA of Central Kentucky.

Maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle is still important amid the pandemic, so the YMCA of Central Kentucky is launching a challenge to help the community reset.

"We're all in this together," Anderson said. "You hear the governor say it every day, and that's true."

Since the start of the pandemic, the YMCA has been changing and adapting to the different needs in the community. It currently offers 50 virtual classes a week and provides support for families needing help with NTI learning. Now it's adapting again with a new "reset challenge."

"It's free to the community, it's not just our members which is really cool because we know that we need each other right now, we need the accountability, and we need the support," said Nikki Hartley, healthy living director for the YMCA of Central Kentucky.

The free, six-week challenge is open to any and everyone, and it is designed to get people moving for at least 30 minutes a day, five days a week. Participants will have access to online classes and can even visit a YMCA facility once a week. The challenge is purely a motivator to get people back to a healthy routine.

Hartley said, "That's going to look different for everyone, but do something that makes your body feel good."

"This is a great time to get people to reconnect, recharge and moving again," added Anderson.

The RESET Challenge begins Feb. 1. Sign-ups begin on Jan. 15.
