WINCHESTER, Ky. (LEX 18) — While many companies have seen their business dwindle or disappear altogether, Pearl Interactive in Winchester is going strong.
"The industry we are in ... we are very blessed," said Contact Center Manager Tony Listermann.
The call center's main contract is a large federal health care company, so it is fair to say business is booming.
"Because we are in health care, that's just been so important for us to keep hiring, keep the doors open," Listermann said. "We practice social distancing at the site, we have a seat between everyone, and we have Plexiglas up."
Back in June, in a time when companies were laying off in droves, Pearl Interactive was hiring. Now, they are at it again.
"So, here we are in October, just a few classes left, but I'm still hiring around 200 people," Listermann said.
Listermann said he feels fortunate to be in this position, not only to work for a company that is doing so well when many others are not, but to also be able to provide opportunities for those in need.
"We are so blessed to be able to keep our doors open and to keep hiring and to just hire the numbers that we are," he said.
Pearl Interactive hopes to get fully hired by November. After five weeks of on-site, socially distanced training, all positions will be work-from-home, have benefits including free healthcare, and they have recently increased their wage to nearly $15 an hour.
