LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Two people charged in connection with a deadly shooting last week at a Lexington apartment complex were due to appear Tuesday in court.
The same day police found 22-year-old Quatrell Kimble shot dead outside the Coolavin Apartments on the city's north side, they arrested a man and a woman in the crime.
Police say 32-year-old David Williams shot Kimble and 24-year-old Tyreshe Webb helped him get away from the crime scene.
Kimble was slain just before 1 p.m. on July 2. Lexington police officers with the mounted unit were patrolling nearby and heard the gunshots.
They found Kimball on the ground with several gunshot wounds. A summer camp for children was going on across the street, and the shots sent kids running for cover.
"They were scared. We had kids having panic attacks, we had kids that were crying," said Rebecca Webb of Community Inspired Solutions summer camp. "Our older kids are really good though and they stepped up. Everyone was carrying a child, holding a child, trying to comfort them and calm them down."
Police later arrested Williams and Webb.
Williams is charged with murder, tampering with evidence and trafficking in cocaine. Webb faces charges related to helping Williams by driving him.
Police have said they recovered a gun in the case.
