LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Two men were behind bars after a standoff with police Tuesday in Lexington.

Authorities said the incident began about 8 p.m. on Clyde Street near Leestown Road.

Police say an officer on patrol noticed a vehicle that had been reported stolen. When an officer approached, however, police say a man jumped out of the vehicle and ran inside a nearby home.

Police told people in the area to remain inside as officials worked to resolve the situation.

Officials spoke on loud speakers trying to get the man to come out of the residence.

After about two hours, police say Houston Adams and Lawrence Goodlet came out of the home unarmed.

The men were taken into custody just before midnight.

Adams was charged with receiving stolen property, felony probation violation and four counts of failure to appear.

Goodlet was charged with receiving stolen property and theft.
