Winter is off to a "warm" start. And this is only the beginning. If you are wishing for a white Christmas, you will need be keep dreaming. Christmas week will feature the arrival of unusually warm temperatures. We'll be back in the mid 50s Monday. Highs on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day will be in the lower 60s! Santa will be able to break out the Bermuda shorts and Hawaiian shirt early. Temperatures will remain unseasonably warm into the start of next weekend.

Aside from the warmth, conditions will be great for travelers and anyone who might find a bike under the tree. A low is currently drifting across the Gulf, bringing widespread rain to our south. While it's not raining anywhere in the Commonwealth, we are seeing clouds from the same system. The low will exit the eastern seaboard by Tuesday. In the process high pressure will take over. Clouds will break to reveal from sunshine through mid-week. The added sunshine will help to warm temperatures up. Our next rain chances won't arrive until late Saturday at the earliest.
