LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — This year's Bourbon Chase came with a heroes and villains theme.

For one group taking part, there was no question about the hero they would be honoring during the roughly 200 mile, two-day relay race.

“We automatically thought of her because she did donate her organs, and several others are living on because of her,” said friend Melissa Klink.

Jill Hurst was killed in September after being involved in this wreck on US 127. Police said David Henderson lead them on a high-speed chase from Harrodsburg, before crashing his car and injuring several people. Hurst died from her injuries days later.

“Even on her bad days, she was just such a good girl,” said former school nurse Jamie Robinette.

Robinette spent four years as the Anderson High School nurse, where she got to know all of the students, Jill included.

Jamie and others can take solace in knowing those traits are being lived out in others.

“We can still celebrate her life, through other people living is just amazing,” said Robinette.
