There’s nothing quite like the feeling of enjoying a mint chocolate candy on your pillow when you come back to your hotel room after a long day of vacationing. Thankfully, there’s a way you can recreate the feeling even if you don’t have the time or resources to jet off on a getaway this summer.
Hershey’s Ice Cream has an Andes Mint ice cream sandwich and it’s just what your freezer needs right now. This sammie takes that world-famous mint-chocolate candy and combines it with mint-flavored ice cream and chocolate cookies for the ultimate summer treat.
According to Best Products, the Andes Mint ice cream sandwich isn’t a new item on the market, but it can be tricky to find in stores (which could be why you’ve perhaps never heard of this deliciousness before). Based on the photos that have surfaced online, a few lucky folks have been able to track down these treats in various gas stations, rest stops and restaurants.
These were spotted at a rest stop in Indiana by Instagram user @imperfectlypatricia:
If you’re lucky, you might even be able to find these at a concession stand at a local park, as Twitter user @justfoodpics apparently did:

You can also try using the location finder via the Hershey’s Ice Cream website to try and find the company’s products near you. Unfortunately, though, there doesn’t seem to be a way to search specifically for Andes Mint ice cream sandwiches. Someone needs to get on that immediately!
You could let these ice cream sandwiches dictate your summer road trip plans, depending on how far away they may be from you. But if you just can’t wait to get all of the turn-down service mint and chocolate flavor in your mouth, you could try your hand at making Andes Mint ice cream sandwiches from scratch.
This recipe from the ByronTalbott YouTube channel shows you how you can build your own mint ice cream sandwiches at home (including the chocolate wafers!). Feel free to make your own ice cream for this recipe or add Andes Mint pieces into your favorite store-bought mint chip:
This recipe from the Delish YouTube channel also shows how you can use Andes Mints to create an ice-cold pie that will easily serve a crowd of Andes lovers:
Want something less cold? Delish also offers this video on how to create a rich and gorgeous-looking chocolate cake with Andes mint flavor.
And what about cookies? Don’t forget those. Here’s a recipe from blogger Chocolate with Grace, showing you how to infuse a soft cookie with Andes Mints. If you make your own ice cream cookie sandwich with these, you’ll be getting an extra dose of fresh mint flavor!
There are plenty of other mint and chocolate desserts you can whip up this summer that will help you get your mint-chocolate fix — at least until you can track down those ice cream sandwiches, that is!
