MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Memphis coach Penny Hardaway has added more NBA experience to his staff by hiring former Phoenix Suns assistant Cody Toppert. Toppert spent the 2018-19 season as an assistant coach and director of player development on a Suns staff headed by Igor Kokoskov. The staff was fired at the end of the season. Toppert will be an assistant coach at Memphis.

UNDATED (AP) — The Southeastern Conference flexed its baseball muscles with Auburn and Arkansas posting blowout wins in the deciding games of their super regionals and giving their league a record-tying four teams in the College World Series. Auburn scored 13 runs in the top of the first inning to start a 14-7 win over host North Carolina, sending the Tigers to the CWS for the first time since 1997. Arkansas beat Mississippi 14-1 and heads back to Omaha for the second straight year.

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (AP) — Justin Thomas and Rickie Fowler both passed on the opportunity to play competitive rounds at Pebble Beach in February and get a peek at the iconic course that hosts this week’s U.S. Open. Both players have rarely found a way to fit the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am into their schedules. Neither thinks he’s at a big disadvantage as a result. Fowler says Pebble Beach is “a pretty straightforward golf course.”
