(LEX 18) — Attorney General Andy Beshear gave an update on the federal legal battle over the Affordable Care Act Tuesday.

An appeals court in New Orleans has been hearing a Texas decision that would strike down the ACA, which Beshear and nearly two dozen other Attorneys General argue would be devastating to people across the country.

Beshear said that the recent ruling in Texas could affect 1.3 million in our state and eliminate coverage of those who have expanded Medicaid. He said it's a battle worth fighting, no matter how long it takes.

"A negative ruling by the 5th circuit, If ultimately upheld, could eliminate coverage immediately for the 400,000 Kentuckian's that received health care for the 1st time with expanded medicaid," said Beshear.

He said that the appeals panel could take weeks or months to rule on Tuesday's hearing.
