Beloved 12-year-old killed in Wolfe County ATV Crash

CAMPTON, Ky . (LEX 18)- — Funeral arrangements have been announced for the young girl killed in a Wolfe County ATV crash.

Macie Jean Morris died Friday, July 19. She was a cheerleader and well-known and loved in her community. Local teams have posted messages of support on their social media and the Wolfe County Cheerleading Team will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Wolfe County's football team held a prayer service in honor of Morris before their practice.

Visitation for Macie will be Wednesday, July 24 beginning at 6 p.m. at Porter and Son Funeral Directors in Campton. Her funeral service will be held at the same location on Thursday July 25 beginning at 2 p.m.

The Wolfe County Board of Education is making grief counselors available to students and described Macie as "an outstanding student and teammate who touched the lives of so many students and staff in our school district."

Under Kentucky law, children under 16 must wear a helmet when operating an ATV. The Wolfe County Sheriff's Deparmtent is investigating the crash.
