LINCOLN COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — On Saturday people came together to help the victims of the deadly gas line explosion move forward.

It's been almost a month since one person was killed and several families lost their homes in Lincoln County.
A benefit concert featuring food, music and dancing raised money to help them recover.

“Every dollar that comes through here they appreciate that,” said Steve Dixon.

After seeing the devastation caused by the explosion, Steve Dixon knew he had to do whatever he could to help out.
As a band member for the group Vagabond Blue's, he thought what better way to lend a hand then to perform a concert and give all the proceeds back to victims.

“Everybody has been willing to donate their time their money, anything they can to help these people out,” said Dixon.

Dixon said the event quickly grew. 8 other bands offered to perform and the Lincoln County Fairgrounds allowed them to use their space for free.

“For of these people to come out and volunteer their time I'm overwhelmed I can't believe so many people are willing to do this it’s just amazing,” said Dixon.

Kim Ollish has watched her aunt and uncle begin to recover. They were victims of the explosion and she says they still have a long ways to go in getting their lives back to normal.

“It’s not only losing everything they have but it’s the emotional side of having to deal with everything and getting their lives back together,” said Ollish.
