FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18) — In a press conference on the steps of the Governor's mansion, Governor Matt Bevin implored the media to press gubernatorial candidate and current Attorney General Andy Beshear on his views on impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump.

Bevin, a supporter of President Trump, said that his opponent owes it to Kentuckians to tell them if he supports the impeachment inquiry.

Comparing Beshear to Hunter Biden, former Vice President Joe Biden's son, Bevin accused the Attorney General of having a corrupt father, saying he has made his living off his father's name.

Governor Bevin also accused reporters of not pursuing the truth and stated that it is the job of the media to seek answers and not accept Beshear's silence on the issue.

He also encouraged reporters to look into Beshear's connections with Purdue Pharma.

Bevin campaign manager Davis Paine released a statement, “First Andy Beshear refused to explain his dealings with Purdue Pharma, and now he refuses to answer directly about where he stands on impeachment – the most critical issue in the national dialogue today. This is a pattern. When Absent Andy thinks the public won’t like his answer, he hides.”

Officials with the Kentucky Democratic Party were also on scene. Rather than commenting on the Governor's stance on President Trump's impeachment, they handed out boarding passes that read "Air Bevin" with a date and time stamp of "Whenever/Wherever Bevin wants." The passes are a reference to controversy over the Governor's use of a state plane for personal travel.
