LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Books and Barbers event was held on Sunday afternoon at Lexington City Church.

All kids had to do was walk through the door, pick out a book and read.

Aside from getting a sticker and a little cash, the kids also got to keep a comic book.

Former NFL player Adam "Pacman" Jones was at the event with a comic book he's behind.

"I gave every kid that came in a free copy of the book so anything we can do for the community, not just Lexington, the whole state of Kentucky and Ohio, that's where our goals are reaching for right now, and we're just trying to do what's right for the community and the kids," said Jones.

The program's creator, who is a teacher, is hopeful that businesses in Lexington will adopt similar programs with the goal of helping as many children as possible.
