Boyle County Health Department records first Coronavirus case

BOYLE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — The Boyle County Health Department is reporting that a Boyle County resident has tested positive for COVID-19.

This marks the first confirmed case in the county.

Reportedly the patient was tested through a commercial lab.

A Facebook post on the health department's page says that the person is an Ephraim McDowell Health Associate. That person is in the hospital.

BCHD’s Epidemiology Team along with Ephraim McDowell Health has begun to track individuals who have had close contact with the patient and are at risk of infection. Those people will be instructed to quarantine.

The health department says people should not panic, but be cautious and continue to take social distancing measures to protect yourself and others.
